Antique Estate Jewellery

With antique estate jewellery it was always known that the favourite or preffered metal was gold. This could be either as white gold, yellow gold, red gold, green gold or even pink gold.

The 1940’s all the massive geometrical jewels were replaced by the more naturalistic inspired designs. Curved mounts, scroll work and the precious stones all returned with a vengeance and it was the Duchess of Windsor who first commissioned the first fully three dimensional panther brooch which was produced in 1948 by Cartier.

All these different coloured gold overtook the supremacy of the antique Estate jewellery which was mostly Platinum jewellery yet diamonds still reined supreme ine the estate diamond jewellery. The was still overshadowed in the 1950’s by the opulence.

Estate jewellery was mostly common with the more fortunate families and where like symbols of their wealth. Different estate jewellery can be coupled with different families and their large arrears of land, houses and more obviously their estates.

This could be a collection of buildings with main building being the mantion. Different types of estate jewellery were requested at the families specifications and all were linked in one way or another. It was attempted to combine the functionality and aesthetics and abandon the straight angular lines in favour of the more aerodynamic, rounded surfaces. The Italians came a close second when it came down to the elegance and functionality who were also original to the Americans.
